This will be the third year we've purchased this coffee. It is a great reflection of the quality coming out of Inza, Causa, located in the centre of the western and eastern slopes of the Colombian Andes, between Nevado de Purace and the Nevado. It is home to some 2,000 coffee farmers, who cultivate coffee on the slopes of the mountains overlooking the river Paez and the Nevado del Huila. In 2004 several hundred Inza coffee farmers got together to form the 'Association of coffee farmers of Eastern Cauca' (ASORCAFE), with the intention of obtaining better prices through direct trade in the commercial centre of Popayan. Up until that point, rural farmers had been selling coffee to several intermediaries who in turn sold the coffee in Huila. As such, the coffee from Inza was being sold as Huila coffee. Now that producers have access to their own warehousing, production is more transparent, and direct trade has been established, Inza is becoming well regarded for the quality of its coffee. And the community is finally receiving the profits and recognition they deserve.
We roast to order on Tuesdays, dispatching next working day. Please specify on check out if you'd like the coffee ground giving brew method.
